NAB Breaks All Records The NAB Convention in Las Vegas has set new records in both attendants and Exhibit Hall occupied space. Attendees are literally from all over the world. The show takes up the entire exhibit hall, at the convention center, and is the largest show in Las Vegas. The meetings are full of great information for everyone who works in the business being organized by job discipline. NAB President and CEO, David K. Rehr delivered a stirring address whose theme was language and how broadcasters need to change the vocabulary they use into 21st century speak, to truly convey our messages. One convention highlight was Senator Mary Landrieu talking about getting support for her new bill that would grant Broadcasters 1st responders rights during a national emergency. This bill would prohibit FEMA from making first responder decisions and would turn the responsibility back to the local credentialing authority. In the case of New Jersey, it would be NJBA through the NJ State Police. Cut Streaming Costs A TV streaming Company, Jetcast, has been purchased by several folks formally with RCS. They have directed their company to Streaming Audio for radio stations. They offer, fixed cost, your monthly fee remains the same; more bandwidth gives listeners high quality audio and there are no listener caps. With the copywrite office raising royalty rates, this service seems to be the first bright light in a costly grey storm. For more information on the service and its costs, contact Dick Darr at Jetcast, 515 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10022, call 914-671-3126, or e-mail Richard@jetcast.com.
