Acess.1 Paying
$22 Million For Green Group
Acess.1 (formally Unity Broadcasting) headed by long time broadcast
professional Sid Small has assumed an LMA with both the Radio and TV properties. The group
also owns WWRL in New York City and a major cluster of stations in Shreveport, LA. The
group has pledged to continue the legacy of community service established by former owner
Howard L. Green. When Green past away, he left the stations to the Salvation Army, where
his parents served as officers and the industry believed could not be sold. The industry
was wrong and the stations were sold. Acess.1 as Unity Broadcasting has enjoyed a long
history of community service in all of the markets where it has had ownership over the
many years of its outstanding history. Sid, Welcome to New Jersey broadcasting.
Announcing
NJBA EEO+, A Major EEO Advance
NJBA along with 4 other state broadcasters associations and the law
firm of Womble, Carlyle has come up with a major advance in EEO compliance. The program
does it all, posting your opening, keeps track of all the FCC paperwork and, finally, by
pressing a button on your computer, you get all of the FCC mandatory reports
automatically. Its a dream come true by organizing all of the necessary paperwork,
without any paper. The program is all web based, secure, hacker proof, complies with all
FCC reporting requirements and is offered as a free member benefit to all NJBA member
stations. It works like this: Post your job, as you do now. When you decide whom youre
going to interview, enter that information on your private secure web site (provided by
us) then when you hire a person, go back in and check off the name of the hire. Thats
it. When it comes time to report to the FCC, press the button on the screen, and all the
required paperwork is printed out for you on all of the proper forms, ready to file. Look
for announcements for the training of personnel on the new programs shortly. The program is owned by EEO1Source, Inc. and NJBA
is a major partner in this company. This is a members only benefit.
Ownership
Rules Stayed
The Third Circuit Court has issued a stay of the new FCC ownership
rules that were to become effective today. All deals relying on the new rules are placed
on hold until the stay is lifted. The Court determined that the plaintiffs in the case
would suffer damages if the court decided the rules were illegal, and therefore stayed
them until it could hold hearings on the rules themselves. It plans to take the rules up
soon.
