Learn How To Format A Station

A special feature of the 2004 Mid Atlantic States Conference will be “formatting a station” during the Programmers Track.  A panel of Station Personnel, (GM, GSM, PD, Promotion Director) will work with a facilitator to program a mythical station in a mythical market. They will use research to come up with a format that could work, and then brainstorm what needs to be done, on the air, in sales, programming and promotion to make the station a huge success. Attendees can brainstorm along with the panel and come up with a station that is a success both with the audience and with advertisers. The Mid-Atlantic States Conference will be held at the Borgata in Atlantic City, on June 7 and 8, 2004. Save the date cards will be in the mail shortly. Plan now to attend and register as soon as registration is opened.   Once again, we expect the Best of The Best Luncheon to be over sold, and tickets will be issued on a first come basis. Don’t be left standing in the hall, while everyone else is enjoying the Best of The Best.

Looking For Howard L. Green Humanitarian Nominations

The Awards Committee is looking for nominations for the coveted Howard L. Green Humanitarian Award. The recipient will receive the Special Award medallion and a check to the recipient’s favorite charity in the amount of $1000.00. To request a nomination form, call Debbie at 1-888-njbafone. Stations have tons of very eligible people stop in every day to discuss their good works and request PSA time. Think of whom, from that group, should be honored and submit them for an award. You can enter as many people as you want as many times as you want. Do it today.

Four New Important Memos For Stations

The FCC Enforcement Monitor details how the FCC is getting very serious about the broadcast of Indecent Material, while the Quarterly Report on Consumer Complaints shows a substantial increase in complaints regarding broadcasters, a new Broadcast Station EEO advisory, and a memo preparing for the 2004 Political Season are all available free for the asking from NJBA. The legal staff of FCC attorneys at Shaw Pittman prepared all of the memos.
