Mission Statement NJBA shall provide timely information and quality support services, and strive to promote the well-being and public policy interests of New Jersey Broadcasters and Associates. Friday, October 24, 2003 Most of the Stations in the State have joined EEO1Source, the one stop helper for EEO compliance. Because of some problem linking from the NJBA web page to EEO1Source, we now suggest that when accessing EEO1Source, go directly to the EEO1Source page, www.eeo1source.com, and proceed from there. There is a new EEO1Source tutorial on the NJBA web page. The tutorial takes you through the entire process and should answer all of your questions concerning the program. Just go to www.njbroadcasters.net and click on the tutorial logo. Debbie Scarano is the main contact at NJBA for all things EEO. Have a question? Call her at 1-888-NJBA-Fone. Wednesday, a number of friends and colleagues of Howard Green met at the NJBA offices in Monroe to dedicate the building to the memory of Howard and to launch the official search for the first recipient of the Howard L. Green Humanitarian Award. The award will be presented annually to a worthy recipient. In addition to the Howard L. Green Medallion, a check in the amount of $1000.00 will be given to the charity of the recipients choice. Mary Jane Green, Howards widow, dedicated the building and Governor James E., McGreevey honored Howard with a proclamation detailing the importance of Howard to the citizens of the state of NJ and especially in Atlantic and Cape May Counties. He is sorely missed. Hundreds of students from colleges throughout the state met yesterday at Montclair University for the annual NJ Advertising Club Career Day, called Power Up. Broadcast stations from all over the state gathered at this job fair to meet and interview the many college students, all of them interested in pursuing a career in advertising, many in sales. The daylong event features seminars, breakouts, and both breakfast and luncheon for all of the attending students. The Third Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia sucker punched the broadcasting industry by deciding that broadcasters owe a special fee to the recording industry for the normal streaming of their signals on the Internet. The NAB, leading a group of major broadcasters, is likely to appeal the decision directly to the Supreme Court, and to also strive to get legislation from Congress exempting Stations from these extra fees It Is Community

The 50 state associations along with the NAB will once again start
collecting information of the Public Service efforts of Broadcasters. It is very important
that all stations keep accurate records, so we can show the country what we contribute in
the public interest,
