Week Continues
Eight New Jersey Broadcasters have joined with the NJBA and the New Jersey Ad Club to participate in Power-Up, the Ad Clubs career day. Students from 23 colleges across the state will gather at Montclair State University for the day long Career Fair, Thursday, October 23, 2003. The fair features advertising professionals from all disciplines giving students a view on what they do. There are breakout sessions, general sessions and a job fair. All of the attendees want to be in some branch of advertising, including advertising sales. This gives our attending employment units the opportunity to interview prospective sales people for employment. Mary Jane Green, Howard L. Greens widow will help dedicate the Howard L. Green Broadcast House, the home of NJBA to unveil the medal, which will be awarded to the recipients of the Howard L. Green Humanitarian Award. You are invited to attend the festivities. Please call Mary 1-888- 657-2346 and tell her you will be attending the event Wednesday, October 22, 2:00pm at our Monroe office. The NJBA Board of Directors and membership are honoring Howard for his long time dedication to Broadcasting in the State of New Jersey. All who came into contact with him revered him. Vince Pepper, the Pepper of Pepper & Corazzini, LLP the long time law firm for NJBA, which recently merged to become Womble, Carlyle, Sandridge and Rice was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Association of Media Brokers. He is the second person in the history of the organization to receive a lifetime award. The President of the Brokers Association is Larry Patrick. New rules are certainly possible, according to an FCC Commissioner, as hearings into localism commence in various cities across the country. The hearings will wind up in June in Washington, DC. Evidently, the FCC is reacting to the backlash stirred up in both Congress and among activist groups concerning the new ownership rules. The Congress forgets that the rules were actually created by Congress, and is letting the FCC take the heat. Get QuickNews by E-mail. It's Fast and Free.
