State Of Emergency

During the last big snow storm, the Governor declared a state of emergency in New Jersey and requested or suggested that people not drive. At no time did the Governor officially close the roads. All roads in the state were open during the state of emergency.  The State Police have asked broadcast stations not to assume that because New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania have declared States of Emergency, and New York and Pennsylvania have closed their roads, that New Jersey has followed suit unless it is specifically announced by the State Police.  They thank all broadcasters for their cooperation.

 EEO Marches On

Twenty-nine human resource and executive personnel attended the NJBA EEO Seminar held earlier this week, at the studios of NJN in Trenton.  John Garziglia, Esq., conducted the seminar and explained how the NJBA EEO program operates to facilitate the stations EEO Program.  John explained the FCC program, with its three prongs. He stated, “when a station participates in the NJBA program, the program will fulfill all of the requirements of prong two and many of the requirements of prong three.”  The two crucial dates to remember are, March 10, when the program starts and you must start keeping records and February 9, 2004 when you must place your EEO results for year one in your public file and up on your web site, if you have one. If you need an EEO manual, please call Debbie or Mary at 1-888 NJBA-Fone for your free copy.  The manual is available for members only.

 Conference Time

The Mid Atlantic States Conference brochure is at the printer and will be in the mail early next week. If you can’t make the conference, you have 72 hours before your arrival to cancel without penalty. If you wait, there will be no rooms at the Inn.  Hotel accommodations are $99.00 per room, per night. Call Caesars toll free at 800-257-8677 to reserve your room now.

 NCSA Alert

We have had a number of stations not run NCSA, because they forgot, have a new traffic director, didn’t put in the paperwork, were too busy, etc.  The facts are:   No NCSA, No Meetings, No Conferences, No Seminars, No EEO Program, No ABIP, No QuickNews, etc. and higher membership dues.  Most stations report that they have very many avails this time of year. Therefore, we ask you, to review your NCSA schedules.  If you are running them, “thank you” and please run more.   If you are not running them, please do so immediately.  Need copy…need traffic instructions…call Mary, at 1-888-NJBA Fone.
