Roberts Honored Again

The National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has honored NJBA Executive Director Phil Roberts for his unyielding dedication to the safety of the nation’s children. The award, presented in Washington, DC acknowledged Roberts’ work along with all of the NJBA members who helped get the Amber Abducted Children Alert Program up and functioning.

New Media Lending Targeted To Small Groups

Commerce Bank one of New Jersey’s fastest growing banks, has entered the media lending business, targeting loans in the $5 million dollar category. The media lending division is headed by the very capable Hank Kush, who closed his own shop to take this assignment. Most NJBA members remember Hank when he worked at United Jersey Bank in the media-lending department. We all wish Hank good fortune.

 Governor’s Book Club

Ninety-Three New Jersey Radio Stations have teamed up with the Governor to help increase children’s literacy. The stations air spots by the Governor promoting a given book. New Jersey companies help distribute the books to schools, and the Governor’s PSA addresses itself to parents, teachers and children.

 Six Officers Attend State Leadership

NJBA Chair, Robert McAllan led a delegation of 5 board members and the executive director to the NAB sponsored State Leadership Conference in Washington, DC. The conference is held annually to coordinate the legislative work of the NAB and all of the State Associations. Attending were, Elizabeth Christopherson, Executive Director of NJN; Arthur Camiolo, General Manager of WEMG AM/FM Philadelphia, Egg Harbor; Bob Dunphy, General Manager, Clear Channel Northwest NJ and Executive Director Phil Roberts.

 ABIP Stronger Than Ever

The State Associations have been conducting meetings with the FCC to work out a few glitches in the Alternate Broadcast Inspections Program. Several FCC inspectors were interpreting the rules a lot differently than they were intended to be interpreted. The State Associations have worked out a new national contract between the State Associations and the FCC and the work of the inspectors has been redefined. Therefore, any station having successfully completed an ABIP will be assured that no surprise random general inspection will occur at their property.
