Essential Personnel Respond To Storm
During the recent snowstorm, Governor James E. McGreevy declared a
state of emergency. No one was permitted to
drive on New Jersey roads. All members of the NJBA were able to man their posts and bring
critical information to viewers and listeners because station personnel have Essential
Personnel Cards issued by the NJBA. This card permits personnel to travel on state
roads to get to their broadcasting stations. If you have not updated your essential
personnel lists for 2003, please do so now. You can get the form for the cards on the NJBA
website. 2002 cards are not valid in 2003. This is a members only benefit.
Paul Weyland Featured Sales Trainer
Renowned Sales Trainer Paul Weyland will be the featured sales
trainer at the 2003 Mid-Atlantic States Conference. Paul has become famous for his
e-lessons, which are used by broadcast stations all over the country. His training will
concentrate on selling the client, not the agency. In this era of NTR, selling directly to
the client has become critical. Make plans to have your entire sales staff attend the
conference. The conference starts at 6:00pm on June 2, with a Hail to Caesar
welcome reception. June 3 starts at 8:00am with a salute to the New Jersey Citizen
of The Year, Congressman Robert Andrews. Mark your calendars now and look for the
conference brochure coming shortly in the mail.
Been There, Done That
Tom Ray, Chief Engineer for WOR AM, New York will be a featured
speaker during the engineering track at the Mid Atlantic States Conference. WOR was one of
the first stations to convert to HD Radio. It broadcasts in HD Radio during the daytime.
This is your chance to find out what is involved in the transition to HD Radio from
someone who has lived through it. Your entire engineering staff, and your contract
engineers need to attend this meeting. This will be a hands on
how to session. In
addition, iBiquity will be conducting a session on what equipment and services are
necessary to prepare for the change over at your station. Many stations in the state have
announced their intention to adopt HD Radio now. This
is an opportunity to get a heads up for your staff. Mark
your calendar now and dont miss out.
