Mega
Communications Sells One Philly AM
Mega Communications, whose FM 104.9 and AM 1310 serve the
Philly-South Jersey Market in Spanish from Egg Harbor City and Camden, has sold its Philly
AM WURD to Levas Communications. The station
is 1000 watts days and 40 watts nighttime. The station was presenting an Urban Talk and
Information format for the last year. Mega
decided to concentrate on its core Spanish format and received a reported $4,250,000 for
the Philly AM.
Billings For Radio
Strong
According to Gary Fries, President and CEO of the RAB, Radio is 98%
of the way back in billing. Fries, speaking at the RAB Friday Breakfast said December
radio figures, when added to the rest of 2002 shows a 4% gain in local and a 13% up in
National for a total of $19.6 billion. He called it a remarkable recovery.
2002 finished up an average of 6%.
Third Largest RAB
Attendance
1600 sellers and sales managers from all over the country attended
the RAB in New Orleans. The secret of getting this great attendance was Fries convincing
major group owners to hold their company sales meeting just before the RAB and in the same
place. Many simply stayed over for the RAB. The educational efforts were outstanding, and
the food and fun were good too. A truly great meeting!
Musical
Transmitters
When Millennium Broadcasting purchased the stations of Press
Communications, they converted the New Jersey 101.5 simulcast on WBSS Millville to Mix AC,
WIXM. They placed the South Jersey part of the signal on the old WFPG-AM in Atlantic City.
Thats all changed now. The new South Jersey home of NJ 101.5 is the old WKOE-FM
Ocean City. Each Millennium Station now
carries a 2 or 3-minute statewide newscast and then locally originated station specific
news.
